TALKING THERAPY

"Face to Face in the room or online via Zoom"

Which should you choose?

Face to Face Therapy

Being the more traditional way of delivering therapy, and with years of research to back up its efficacy, face to face therapy is favoured by many clients. Physically being in the therapy room (as opposed to virtually) can allow some clients to focus better, away from the distractions of work or home life.

It is fair to say that the Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions placed upon us as a result, served to highlight the importance of human connection. With this in mind, face to face therapy is an opportunity to be able to leave the house and to make that valuable connection with your therapist in person.

The therapy room at Acorn offers you, the client a warm and friendly welcome into the calm and safe space provided especially for you to explore your struggles.

With hand sanitiser available, room ventilation, chairs positioned 1 metre apart and optional disposable face masks supplied, opting for this more traditional method of therapy does not need to compromise your health or physical wellbeing.

Fees for face-to-face therapy are set at £40 per 50-minute session with concessionary rates available.

How May Covid 19 affect this way of working?

In the event of a further local or National lockdown, face to face sessions could be transferred to online sessions via Zoom so long as you have a pc and internet access. If either you or I need to self-isolate, there will be an option for our sessions to be transferred online or in the event either of us are too unwell to attend, our sessions will be temporarily suspended by mutual agreement.

Online Therapy

Online therapy came into its own during the Covid-19 pandemic with the enforced lockdowns directing people to stay at home. It should not, however, be considered a ‘second best’ option compared with the more traditional method of face-to-face therapy. On the contrary online therapy holds just as much value for some clients as face-to-face sessions do for others.

Online therapy provides a greater selection of therapists for you, the client to choose from given that you are not bound geographically to choose a therapist in your local area. Some clients consider this way of working to be more flexible in terms of there being no travel time and (providing the client has a quiet space in which to attend their online sessions) no childcare arrangements having to be made or childcare costs incurred.

For those clients who still experience or worry about the stigma around accessing therapy, online sessions can eliminate the chance of friends and family members seeing you arriving or leaving your counselling sessions.

Furthermore, with secure encryption software as well as online virus protection available, you, the client can have peace of mind that your confidentiality is not compromised by this more modern way of working.

Fees for online therapy are set at £35 per 50-minute session with concessionary rates available.

How May Covid 19 affect this way of working?

In the event of a further local or National lockdown, online sessions can still take place. If either you or I need to self-isolate, sessions can still take place online so long as you/I feel well enough to attend them.
